Études

Études is an invitation to an in situ creation inspired from a work from the MuMa (Le Havre) collection. Fifteen or so drawings by Degas (1834-1907) make up the chosen corpus. It is about studies of bodies, where the line expresses itself as an action constantly evolving.
Études is both a series of drawings and a performance, which generates drawings and whose result is to be discovered as an installation. How to draw with a moving body? Movements of the body against which the drawing hand is moving… a hand which in turn is animating the body. The body, in contact with the paper surface or the copper plate, leaves the print of a ghostly presence.
