Grand Monde
Grand Monde is an artistic residency at the Pavillon de Caen which consists in producing a series of drawings: twelve different drawings which, once gathered, make up a large in situ drawing. The hanging wall has determined the number and arrangement of the sheets of paper.
The Presqu’île is a changing territory. From the ESAM to Hérouville Bridge, going across the Nouveau Monde water purification plant, I have paced the space up and down for two days. There we find contrasting social and geographical realities, from dock work to prostitution, from the buzzing of the bypass traffic to the harrowing silence of the fallow lands. I have taken from these walks six particular atmospheres, which were to become six very different drawings. Between them I have inserted six connecting drawings so as to compose a whole, without erasing the discontinuity of the journey.
